This White Tiger comes from an encounter I have never been able to forget. Years ago, while working on an unrelated story, I came face-to-face with a white tiger in a controlled environment. He was wounded. His legs had been amputated. The space was dark, his body frail, his freedom long gone. And yet, the first thing I noticed was not loss. It was power. I noticed his eyes before anything else. There was a long, unbroken silence between us. No sound. No movement. Just presence. Then, he leapt. The way tigers do in nature. It was instinct, not effort. For a brief moment, muscle remembered freedom. When the body could not follow, he settled back without hesitation, lifted his head, and looked again. There was no embarrassment. Only presence.
