Perched on the banks of Lake Pichola, Udaipur’s City Palace is 400 years of royal grandeur packed into one breathtaking complex. Started in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh, it’s a labour of love that took centuries to complete.

And when it comes to art, Indian royalty didn’t do half-measures. This place is a visual feast—ceilings, floors, walls, even hidden corners are covered in intricate designs. Case in point? A mural tucked away in a water-storage corner, casually hanging out with massive copper pots—taller than my 5'2" frame.

The artwork? A century-old riot of colour, depicting Krishna and his gopikas. Because in Udaipur, even storage spaces get the royal treatment.
