About the art:
Meet Vatsala. A majestic elephant, painted in my signature Facet Glass Art style. This piece is a tribute to one of the world’s oldest elephants, who lived to the awe-inspiring age of 109. It’s a visual ode to quiet strength, resilience, and ancient wisdom.
 
Born in Kerala’s Nilambur forests, Vatsala spent her early years hauling timber before being moved to Madhya Pradesh’s Panna Tiger Reserve, where she lived out her final decades. Thought to be 109 years old, she far outlived the typical 60-year lifespan of Asian elephants. She had no calves of her own, yet generations leaned on her, literally and emotionally. In Panna, she wasn’t just the oldest. She was the soul. Majesty, memory, and wisdom moved through her, quietly outlasting time.
 
Every line, shard, and fragment in this work was painted digitally over a week, drawing inspiration from stained glass windows and mosaic storytelling. Printed as a museum-quality giclée on archival fine art paper, this artwork is designed to last for generations, just like Vatsala’s memory.
